So, I was having a pretty rough day yesterday. A lot of things didn’t go right at work and otherwise. I had to work late and I was driving from a client’s office back to my office through the roundabout on Riverside in front of the Palmer Center. As I circled the large tree in the roundabout the city came into view and a bold, beautiful rainbow appeared right inbetween two of the main sky scrapers in Austin. I thought to myself, “I wish I had time to stop for that!” and continued driving. When I reached the stoplight, an overwhelming feeling told me I was going to really regret it if I didn’t go back to get this shot. I whipped the car around and there was a single parking space waiting for me right in front of the vantage point I wanted. I grabbed my camera and tripod and rushed out to the middle of the field. I triple checked my settings and started shooting. 17 shots later, this baby was born.

I walked around the trail awhile longer and stopped to take some HDRs. Some joggers came by and a man asked “Did you set that shot up?” and I said “Yeah, I uh, called my friend… God?”. He replied “Well, he’s a good one to know.”

Editing this guy was extremely challenging. At 22377 x 3851 pixels, my computer had a terrible time handling the 776 MB PSD file. Photoshop crashed a million times and of course, I didn’t save often enough. Alas, it finally made it through for the most part and now here it is, ready for you.

The name is taken from a The Go Find song “Sky Window”. Listen here http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Sky+Window/1RBkbh
I think about Austin when I hear those lyrics and I definitely had it in my head when I was shooting this. :)

Highly recommended! These are some photos of the awesome Austin toy store, Toy Joy!  This store was one of the first things that enticed me to migrate to Austin and remains one of my favourite places in the city to visit. It’s on the corner of Guadalupe and West 29th St on the edge of the UT campus. Please check out their website over at http://www.toyjoy.com! I know you’ll have fun!

I still want to be human…

Right now I’m listening to Modest Mouse and uploading shit to the blog. This is filler text.

Modern home in Austin, Texas

When I was a younger child, music had a large influence on me. The title of this photograph comes from a song called “Aisha” by Death In Vegas.
